Top 12 Best Crown Royal Flavors

Ready to see what’s available? Here are some of the top flavors.

Blender’s Mash

Blender’s Mash has a subtle yet oaky undertone that gives it a warm and earthy flavor. It was the first flavor released as part of the brand’s Blenders’ Series.  As a blended whisky, it is mixed with several different ingredients to improve the taste and create a more complex drink. The scent of the whisky is very similar to bourbon with hints of apples, vanilla, and caramel.

The initial flavor is sweet and fruity. The body is even sweeter and introduces creamier flavors such as butterscotch and caramel. It goes down smoothly and can be enjoyed as a stand-alone whisky or mixed into cocktails. Those fruity notes linger in the finish and leave you wanting more.

Crown Royal Maple

At first glance, Crown Royal’s maple flavored whisky looks just like a bottle of maple syrup. It’s darker than other varieties, and one twist of the cap releases a strong maple scent. That maple scent is followed up with fragrances of vanilla, caramel, and a nice woody undertone. The first sip brings those same accents in the form of flavors to the palate.

The deep maple flavor is the first thing you notice, but smooth notes of vanilla and caramel find their way through. It also has a warm and spicy aftertaste that mixes with the long-lasting maple to create a nice feel in the mouth. It’s like pancakes and maple syrup in drink form.

Not overly sweet but still satisfying.  Don’t be intimidated by the strong maple flavor. It only adds to the complexity of the overall experience and brings out the taste of the whisky.

Crown Royal Rye

When you think of rye, you probably don’t think of sweet, butterscotch and caramel notes. Still, you won’t be disappointed with this flavor of the brand’s Rye variety. It’s dark and sweet with just the right amount of fruity notes and warm spicy undertones. When you open the bottle, you can smell the rye with little hints of sandalwood and citrus.

Those same dark, spicy flavors “dance” on the palate and change to fruity and woody as you finish each sip. The smooth and balanced texture completes the full experience. It is the type of whisky you want to take the time to enjoy. Try it neat or mix it as a cocktail. It’s a must for any rye lover.

Crown Royal Cornerstone

The Cornerstone blend has a unique and refreshing flavor. It has a strong mix of toffee, cloves, spices, and some lovely woody accents. It is considered a bourbon-style whisky, which is one of the reasons it is so sweet. If you are looking for a whisky with a deep, warm, butterscotch flavor, this is the one for you.

The sweetness is the first thing you notice on the palate followed by all the other subtle, earthy, ingredients. It’s blended nicely and finishes with a charred barrel flavor. It mixes well with cocoa, coffee, cola, and other dark cocktail mixers. Cornerstone is as close to bourbon as Canadian whisky can get.

Crown Royal Black

The brand’s Black variety has a darker label on the outside and a more robust whisky flavor inside. That deep flavor comes from the charred oak barrels used to make the blend. It is also a higher proof. It’s a next-step whisky for the whisky drinker who already loves the brand’s original flavor but is ready to try something a little stronger.

There are strong accents of oak, vanilla, and black pepper. It has sweet elements too. Ginger, cinnamon, caramel, and butterscotch help balance it nicely. It has a long and warm finish that makes it perfect for sipping by the fire on a cold night. Mix it with coffee, hot chocolate, or cider for the perfect winter cocktail.

Crown Royal Salted Caramel

For some reason, salted caramel just works well with whisky. That’s probably why the experienced whisky makers didn’t hesitate to add it to their flavored whisky lineup. It’s sweet and smooth which makes it perfect for sipping, shooting, or mixing in cocktails. It has just the right amount of saltiness to keep it from being too sweet. There are notes of fruit and warm spices as well.

It’s not your typical caramel flavor that you find in most other whiskies; it has a deeper bodied sweetness and a creamy smooth texture. It mixes perfectly with apple juice or cider, cola, cream soda, or even eggnog. If you love salted caramel and warm, rich flavors, you will probably enjoy it even more on its own.

Crown Royal Texas Mesquite

The Texas Mesquite flavor is very woody, and while it has some sweet tendencies, it has a smokier, barbeque flavor. Vanilla, oak, and root beer give it a smooth texture, and a burst of red pepper helps it finish out nicely. The smoky aftertaste is nice and lingers for a while. It’s different but in a good way.

It’s precisely how you expect a Texas Mesquite whisky to taste. Its full flavor is excellent on its own, but it can also lend those smoky notes to cocktails that include warm or spicy flavors. It big and bold, and makes a great summer cocktail. If you enjoy a drink with dinner, this is the one.

Crown Royal Apple

The Apple variety is a nice change from the original flavor, and the acidity of the apple brings out the character of the whisky. It has a smooth entry with plenty of apple flavor and touches of spices. One of the best things about this flavored whisky is that it’s not overly sweet.

A lot of brands use apples to bring out the fruity notes of whisky and even compliment other flavored whiskies, but here, apple is the star. One sip and it will remind you of a chilly fall evening on your front porch.

It’s also light enough that you can enjoy it on ice during the summer. Because it has such a fruity profile, it mixes well with other whiskies and plenty of other cocktail mixes. Try it mixed with cranberry juice for a surprisingly refreshing cocktail experience.

Crown Royal Vanilla

If you like whisky and you like vanilla, you will enjoy the brand’s vanilla flavored whisky. This drink is anything but a one-hit wonder. While the vanilla flavor is prominent, the entire experience in complex and comforting. The vanilla has a warm and toasted taste that is reminiscent of a toasted marshmallow or sugar cookie.

While it’s definitely one of the sweetest flavors in the brand’s whisky lineup, the taste of sugar isn’t overwhelming. People who aren’t into sweet flavors may be wary of trying this one, but, the whisky taste comes through on the palate and lingers in the finish.  That sweetness simply takes away the burn and harshness of straight unflavored whisky. It’s great to sip neat or mix in a cocktail with mixers such as root beer, cola, or even cocoa.

Crown Royal Honey

The honey flavor goes well with whisky, but it’s also easy for it the honey to overpower that whisky flavor. That isn’t the case here. There is just enough honey to compliment the whisky so you can enjoy both flavors at the same time.

It is a sweeter whisky thanks to the sweet wild clover and sunflower honey, which are two of the main ingredients. When you think of honey, you think of something that goes down smooth and has a silky texture. That’s precisely what you get from this whisky. It’s fun to drink and works well in a variety of different cocktails, especially those with citrus notes. It’s also perfect on ice.

Crown Royal Deluxe

Deluxe is a smooth blend of apples, cinnamon and a sweet, cereal-like flavor that is familiar but also surprising is a whisky. Brown sugar and honey are other subtle flavors that play a role in the profile of this young whisky. Cocktails drinkers will like that this whisky is so versatile.

It’s light, so it works well with fruity sodas, and other clear mixes, such as lemonade. It’s the standard for good Canadian whisky and basically where the line started. You probably won’t be able to resist mixing it with Coke, so go ahead and do it. Be sure to try it straight at least once, so you can fully appreciate all the flavors, planning, and time that went into developing this fantastic whisky recipe.

Crown Royal Reserve

While a lot of whiskies utilize fruit for extra flavor and acidity, Reserve brings some different fruit flavors to the game. In addition to the usual apple, Reserve includes white peach and grape. If you think that these flavors might make it too sweet, think again. They add to the smoothness, and when combined with some dark grains, a light char, and some hints of cinnamon, they give the whisky a bright and balanced taste.

It’s a subtle change from the original flavor, but enough to let you know you are enjoying something different. It goes down fine on its own or can mix nicely with colas, lemon-lime sodas, ginger ale, cider, or even coffee. Reserve whisky tends to be considered a better version of the original by many people. While this is debatable, there are some similarities between the brand’s Reserve and Deluxe whiskies. In our opinion, both are worth a try.
